A hidden hole in the bone
A cavitation refers to a hole within a bone. While they can form in any bone in the body, they are usually found in the jaw, very often at the site of a previous tooth extraction, where the bone has failed to heal properly. Because the opening can be small, a cavitation is easy to miss unless a clinician is specifically searching for one.
A reservoir of toxins
By their nature, cavitations are highly toxic. They become breeding grounds for bacteria and a range of small chemical toxins, which can drive a localised disease process. How CBCT imaging finds them

3D CBCT imaging takes a different approach. This cone beam CT scan captures the jawbone in fine detail, revealing areas of compromised, hollowed-out tissue that simply do not appear on a standard 2D radiograph. The result is a clear, three-dimensional picture that lets us pinpoint a cavitation before we treat it.

A cavitation is a hollow, infected pocket inside a bone, most commonly in the jaw, often at the site of an old tooth extraction that never fully healed. Inside, bacteria and chemical toxins build up, which can place a chronic burden on the immune system and contribute to wider health problems.
Standard dental X-rays are excellent at showing dense, mineralised structures like teeth, but they often miss the soft, damaged tissue inside a cavitation. A 3D CBCT (cone beam CT) scan captures the jawbone in three dimensions, mapping compromised areas that a conventional 2D radiograph simply cannot reveal.
We use 3D CBCT (cone beam CT) imaging, which captures the jawbone in fine three-dimensional detail. Healthy, dense bone and hollow, damaged bone appear very differently on the scan, letting us build a clear map of any cavitation and pinpoint it precisely before treatment.
Treatment is carried out gently and with exceptional care under appropriate anaesthetic. We support healing afterwards with ozone, plasma rich growth factors (PRGF) from your own blood, and an intravenous vitamin-C infusion to strengthen your immune system and ease recovery.
We open and thoroughly clean the affected area, removing the damaged tissue. We then apply ozone to disinfect the site, treat it with PRGF to stimulate bone regeneration, and provide an IV vitamin-C infusion to support recovery. Because metal toxicity worsens cavitations, treatment often pairs with safe mercury removal.
